Idaho Falls Zoo at Tautphaus Park opening for 2016 season

IDAHO FALLS — Winter has come to a close, and exhibits at the Idaho Falls Zoo are ready to open for the 2016 season.

The Idaho Falls Zoo at Tautphaus Park is opening to the public Saturday, April 9. New animals like baby camel Zowie and baby ring-tailed lemurs can be seen this season. Several wallaby joeys are also beginning to emerge from their moms’ pouches, according to a city news release.

The zoo will be open daily from 9 a.m to 5 p.m. with the last admission at 4 p.m.

Adult tickets are $7.50 per person, seniors are $6, and children ages 4 to 12 are $4.50. Children under 3-years-old are free.

The zoo will be participating in the annual Idaho Falls Earth Day Celebration. Participants can enjoy activities throughout the park that include music, food, conservation education, games, and crafts will take place on Saturday, April 23.

Children 12 and under can get into the zoo for free with paid adult admission along with a donation of a canned food item or other recyclable on Earth Day.

New education classes, special events, and penguin interaction programs will be available this season. For more information, visit the zoo’s website.
