IDAHO FALLS — The Idaho Broadcasters Association recognized EastIdahoNews.com and several Riverbend Communications radio stations for their performances this year. Stations took first place in five of eight competitive categories.
Riverbend General Manager Steve Poulsen said his team works hard to develop entertaining and informative material.
“It’s always exciting to see our team recognized for the good work that they do,” he said. “It’s good for them and for the company.”
EastIdahoNews.com took first place in the Best Radio Website category. The online news website also serves as the home of sister news agency KEIR 101.1 FM News Talk Radio. The award recognized News Director Nate Eaton, Web Manager Cory McHugh and Managing Editor Nate Sunderland for their work in launching the site this year.
Eaton said the staff is honored to receive recognition from the Idaho Broadcast Association.
“EastIdahoNews.com promises to continue to deliver the most compelling news content in East Idaho,” he said.
Dylan Carder, program director with KEIR 101.1 FM, took first place in the Best News Story category.
Mike Nelson and Liza Raley of Classy 97 KLCE received the award for Best Morning Show. Raley said the intent of what they do is not to receive recognition.
“Awards were never on our radar,” Raley said. “Everyday we try to make an entertaining, compelling, relatable morning show … We connect with our audience on a very personal level, and we want to make sure that we are talking about what’s important to people that are listening.”
Runners-up for this category were Don Jarrett and Rachel Ryan’s show on 105.5 The Hawk, and the Brad and Tara show on Z103.
Other awards were presented to Brad Royal at K-Bear 101 for Best Promotion; and Brad Barlow from Z103 for Best Radio Commercial Single.
