Dash camera video captured from a Rexburg police car shows the dramatic police pursuit with Travis Castro. This video was shown during Castro’s preliminary hearing on Wednesday, Sept. 7.
REXBURG — A man accused of leading police on a pursuit through the streets of Rexburg with stolen guns in his truck will stand trial.
The case of Travis Castro, 30, was moved to district court Wednesday following a preliminary hearing in Madison County on four felony charges: eluding police, possessing of stolen property and two counts of possession of a controlled substance.

During the hearing, Madison County Prosecutor Sid Brown played dash cam video of police following Castro during the Aug. 19 pursuit until he crashed in downtown Rexburg. Police have said he was wanted in connection to the burglary of Guns N Gear in Idaho Falls last month.
Six vehicles were damaged in the crash, including the truck Castro was driving. There was also a stolen four-wheeler in the back of the truck.
Magistrate Judge Colin Luke found there was enough evidence to support that a crime had been committed and moved the case to district court.
Castro is scheduled to be arraigned later this month.
In addition to the four felonies in Madison County, Castro is being held on three misdemeanor warrants out of Bonneville County and a felony warrant for grand theft. The felony warrant stemmed from an unrelated Idaho Falls police theft of a vehicle case from May.
