IDAHO FALLS — A 33-year-old woman is facing a felony charge after admitting to attacking a neighbor with a baseball bat.
Brittany Sherman, of Idaho Falls, was arrested Tuesday morning following a physical confrontation at the Chelsea Court Apartments on the 2200 block of 12th street.
According to police reports, officers responded to the area just after 10 a.m. in reference to a woman chasing a man through the apartment complex with a wooden baseball bat and striking him.
After arriving on scene officers discovered a male lying in the grass bleeding from his head. Police described the male victim as being covered in blood from head to toe.
The victim told police that he had brought coffee to the apartment that Sherman was staying in. He told police when he entered the apartment he saw Sherman on top of her roommate, scratching his face.
The victim said Sherman at one point picked up a hammer and that’s when he decided to leave the apartment.
The victim told police Sherman later came to his apartment with a hammer and a baseball bat. The victim said Sherman dropped the hammer and then hit him in the head with the bat, and then chased him.
Police spoke with Sherman’s roommate, who was bleeding from scratch wounds on his face. The roommate was mumbling and unable to fully communicate with police. Police described the roommate as being intoxicated, according to police reports.
Police say Sherman had a different version of events, but admitted to striking the male victim with a bat.
Sherman told police that when the male victim arrived with coffee, he attacked her roommate, hitting him in the head several times with a coffee thermos.
Police noted there were no signs of that purported confrontation in the apartment.
Both men were transported to the hospital and treated for their injuries.
Sherman was arrested on a felony aggravated battery charge and booked into the Bonneville County Jail, her bond was set at $20,000. Sherman has a preliminary hearing scheduled Nov. 23.
