BLACKFOOT — A Florida man has been arrested and charged with leaving the scene of a fatality crash and vehicular manslaughter following a fatal car crash on Saturday, Aug. 29.
Idaho State Police responded to a single-vehicle crash, southbound on I-15 at milepost 93, near Blackfoot at 5:20 a.m., according to an ISP news release.
Gonzalo Lopez-Vasquez, 32, of Wimauma, Florida, was traveling southbound in a 2001 Ford Explorer when he went off the right shoulder, over-corrected, and rolled into the median, where the vehicle came to rest on its roof.
Lopez-Vasquez’s passenger, Meso Reymieri, 36, of Guatemala, was ejected from the vehicle, and succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Lopez-Vasquez was located a half mile from the crash, and was transported by ground ambulance to Bingham Memorial Hospital.
Lopez was wearing a seat belt; Reymieri was not wearing a seat belt.
