IDAHO FALLS — A local man with terminal cancer received a special surprise Tuesday afternoon.

Nate Woolf, 38, is diagnosed with a stage four brain tumor called astrocytoma. A New York Giants fan, he had no idea a lifelong dream would be realized when he walked into a local health care center.

“We’ve been keeping this secret from him for a week,” his wife, Mayan Woolf, said.

“This is going to be a surprise,” clinical director for Teton Healthcare, Roger Hiatt said. “The family is very excited about this.”

Teton Healthcare and Money Wise, a local financial services company, surprised Nate with tickets to a New York Giants vs Pittsburg Steelers game.

“We wanted to make sure they had this opportunity before they have something happen and they’re not able to do this,” said Duane Fugleberg, area director for Money Wise.

The father of two is isn’t able to fully speak, so his wife and family members helped him express his gratitude.

“He’s so excited. I’m so excited for him,” Mayan said.

Originally Nate’s nephew Jack Becker wrote a letter to the Giants to see if his uncle would be able to meet the team. Although Nate wasn’t able to receive that wish, Jack’s efforts still made all of the difference.

“I’m so thankful that we’re able to do this,” Jack said. “I really think he really loves me, and I love him so much too.”

Nate and Mayan plan to head to Pittsburg for the game Sunday. The couple are grateful to family, friends and organizations that have rallied around them during this trial.

“Thank you so much to everybody that worked so hard to make this all happen,” Mayan said.
