REXBURG — The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch for the Upper Valley and Teton Valley.

Moderate to heavy snowfall is expected to begin falling Tuesday afternoon and continue through Wednesday afternoon, according to the NWS alert.

The hardest hit communities will likely be Driggs, Victor and Island Park. Seven to 12 inches of snow are expected in areas with elevations above 6,000 feet.

The Wyoming border from Taghee Pass through Pine Creek Pass is expected to receive three to six inches of snow.

Similar storm watches have been issued in western Wyoming and southern Montana. Parts of southern Montana are also under a winter storm warning — with one to two feet of snow possible.

Due to the snowfall weather officials say travel on roadways may be impacted and advise caution.
