Snow storm upgraded in eastern Idaho

REXBURG — A snow storm due to hit the Upper Valley, Teton Valley and the Idaho/Wyoming border on Tuesday and Wednesday has been upgraded in severity.

The National Weather Service in Pocatello has issued a winter storm warning for most of the region north and east of Idaho Falls and south of Pocatello. Communities in Teton, Fremont, Clark, Caribou counties and eastern Bonneville and Bannock counties are expected to be hit the hardest.

Moderate to heavy snowfall is expected to begin at about noon Tuesday and continue until 6 p.m. Wednesday, according to the NWS alert.

Some 7 to 12 inches are expected at higher elevations and 3 to 6 inches at lower elevations.

Officials say the severe weather and significant amounts of snow forecast will make travel dangerous. They advise if you must travel keep an extra flashlight, food and water in your vehicle.
