RIGBY — A local man was treated by paramedics after being crushed under a one ton hay bale Tuesday night.

Central Fire District officials tell EastIdahoNews.com they responded to a rural residence in Jefferson County just after 7 p.m.

Officials say a man, who has not been identified, was inside a barn when a rectangular hay bale that was stacked on top of other bales fell about 4 feet and landed on top of him. His legs were pinned under the bale and his back was pinned up against the barn wall.

Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputies, Central Fire District and Idaho Fall EMS responded.

Emergency personnel use inflatable air bags to lift the bale off the man.

He was brought into an ambulance and treated by paramedics for unknown injuries. He was not immediately transported to the hospital.

EastIdahoNews.com has requested more information about the incident and will post if additional details become available.

CORRECTION: A previous version of this story reported the man was transported to EIRMC by ambulance. That is incorrect. He was treated and released at the scene.
