DAILY FORECAST: Chance of snow and wind; ID 33 and 32 reopen

IDAHO FALLS — There are no severe weather alerts in eastern Idaho for Wednesday, March 1. However, the chance for isolated snow showers and moderate to high winds remains throughout the region.

Idaho Highway 33 between Newdale and Tetonia has reopened after being closed Tuesday afternoon. The Idaho Transportation Department reports the road is now mostly dry with some icy patches.

Idaho Highway 32 between Ashton and Tetonia reopened at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday. ITD reports snow on the roadway and icy patches.

A surface water warning also has been issued for U.S. Highway 91, 3 to 7 miles north of the Preston area. The impacted area is from milepost 16 to 20. Officials urge extreme caution on the road.

No other closures or major warnings are in effect.

Idaho Falls and Rexburg

Madison, Jefferson and Bonneville counties and the surrounding area will be mostly cloudy Wednesday with isolated snow showers. Temperatures will range from 26 to 33 degrees with moderate winds of 10 to 20 mph. Cloud cover will remain in the evening with increasing winds of 10 to 15 mph and a 20 percent chance of snow.

Pocatello

The region will be mostly sunny Wednesday with isolated snow showers. It’ll be breezy with southwest winds of 15 to 25 mph. Temperatures will be between 28 to 36 degrees. Evening temperatures will drop to between 12 and 21 degrees and winds will die down after midnight.

St. Anthony, Ashton, Island Park, Driggs, and Victor

The Upper Valley and Teton Valley will be mostly cloudy Wednesday with scattered snow showers. Snow accumulation of up to 2 inches is expected through the evening. Daytime temperatures will be between 22 and 29 degrees. Temperatures will drop to between 14 and 21 degrees in the evening.

Arco, Challis, and Mackay

It’ll be partly sunny with isolated snow showers throughout the day. Temperatures will be among the highest in eastern Idaho with highs of 29 to 39 degrees. Cloud cover will increase in the evening with temperatures dropping to between 6 and 16 degrees.

Henry, Soda Springs, Downey, and Lava Hot Springs

The area will be mostly cloudy Wednesday with scattered snow showers and snow accumulation of up to 2 inches. Temperatures will reach between 26 to 33 degrees during the day. At night, it’ll be mostly cloudy with a continued chance of snow showers throughout the night. Temperatures will drop to between 13 and 22 degrees.
