American Red Cross will honor East Idaho heroes at luncheon today

IDAHO FALLS — The winners of the 2017 East Idaho Real Heroes awards will be honored today at the American Red Cross’s annual luncheon at the Hilton Garden Inn in Idaho Falls, from 12:00 to 1:30 PM. The Red Cross event celebrates the spirit of humanitarianism and recognizes ordinary individuals who have done extraordinary things to help others.

“Our annual East Idaho Real Heroes event is a great way to recognize the exceptional people among us and give them our heartfelt thanks,” says Christopher Davis, Chief Development Officer of the American Red Cross of Idaho and Montana. “Once again, the community has rallied around our annual celebration and we are very grateful for their incredible support.”

The East Idaho Real Heroes awards luncheon brings together community leaders, corporations, first responders, emergency and safety personnel, and other worthy individuals who view safety as a priority. EastIdahoNews.com news director Nate Eaton will emcee the event.

The following individuals will be honored:

Fire Safety Heroes — Cpt. Brian Moncur, Mike Abbott, Matt Call, Brandon Hafen, Matt Hardy, Jess Morgan, Adrian Russell

Law Enforcement Heroes — Sgt. Jared Hurt, Dep. Korey Payne, Dep. Chris Rix

Youth Hero — JT Parker

Medical Heroes — Greg Walker, Dep. Tom Smith

Search and Rescue Heroes — Ron Sykes, Jerah Martindale, Chad Nash, Stetson Liebert, Eric Thomas, Justin Liebert, Steve Killingsworth, Kent Daniels, Annie Stephens, Brodie Davison, Connor Lenz, Ryan Hathaway, Randy Gravatt, Stetson Dutton Jr., Mitch Lenz Jr.

Animal Rescue Heroes — Chet Pugmire, Dan Jorgensen

Workplace Hero — Sheldon Bonnell

Water Safety Hero — Mark Distelhorst

Blood Donor Hero — Skyler Auclaire

Everyday Hero — Tyvan Schmitt

Spirit of the Red Cross Hero — Magen Micklesen
