IDAHO FALLS — It’ll be a bit colder today, but most of eastern Idaho will still see a lot of sun for Monday, April 3. Light snow is in the forecast for a lot of eastern Idaho tonight.
Flood conditions are still declining, but may increase again by the end of the week.
The Bear River in Bear Lake County has dropped below flood stage at 8.5 feet. The river is expected to drop very slowly over the next couple of days.
High flows and runoff continue to impact Pegram, Dingle, Ovid, Saint Charles and Fish Haven. Widespread flooding across fields and low lying areas continues and numerous flooded basements across the area have been reported.
The Portneuf River in Pocatello is measuring at 9.0 feet and minor flooding is still occurring along its banks. The river will gradually fall to below flood stage by Tuesday, however, wet weather is expected later in the week and additional rises are possible.
Minor flooding is occurring in the Chesterfield and Pebble area. Water from the Portneuf River and King Creek are spilling into nearby fields. At this time, roads and homes are not affected.
Minor flooding also is occurring below the Monida Dam in Franklin County due to snow melt, rain and runoff. The advisory is in effect until midday Monday. The following communities will be effected: Preston, Franklin, Weston, Whitney and Riverdale.
ROAD REPORT
No major road closures are being reported as of 8 a.m. Monday.
The Idaho Department of Transportation is reporting difficult conditions on U.S. Highway 20 between St. Anthony and the Montana State Line. Slush on the roadway, icy patches and light snow is being reported.
Similar conditions exist on Idaho Highway 31 between Swan Valley and the Wyoming State Line and Idaho Highway 33 between Driggs and the Wyoming State Linee
Construction on northbound Interstate 15 between exit 72 (Chubbuck) and exit 80 (Fort Hall) has been reduced to one lane due to bridge maintenance. Expect delays and reduced speed of 65 mph through May 12.

Idaho Falls, Rigby and Rexburg
The Upper Snake River Plain will be mostly sunny today with isolated rain and snow showers in the afternoon. Highs of 36 to 43 degrees are expected with north winds of 10 mph. It’ll be cloudy at night with a 20 percent chance for snow. Lows of 22 to 29 degrees are expected with increasing winds of 10 to 15 mph.
Pocatello and Blackfoot
The Lower Snake River Plain will see mostly sun today with highs of 36 to 46 degrees. North winds of 10 mph will shift to west winds by the afternoon. Clouds will roll in at night with lows of 23 to 30 degrees and increasing northwest winds of 10 to 15 mph.
St. Anthony, Ashton, Island Park, Driggs and Victor
The Upper Snake Highlands will be mostly sunny with isolated snow showers in the afternoon. Highs of 33 to 40 degrees are expected. At night, it will be cloudy with a continued chance for snow. Lows of 19 to 26 degrees are predicted.
Arco, Challis and Mackay
The Lost River area will be party sunny today with isolated snow showers. Highs of 32 to 42 degrees are expected. Nighttime will be cloudy with a slight chance of snow showers and lows of 15 to 25 degrees.
Henry, Soda Springs, Downey and Lava Hot Springs
The Caribou Highlands will see mostly sun today with isolated snow showers in the afternoon and highs of 35 to 44 degrees. It’ll be mostly cloudy at night with a slight chance of snow showers. Lows of 19 to 29 degrees are expected.
