DAILY FORECAST: Cloudy with wind and a chance of rain

IDAHO FALLS — Eastern Idaho looks to be mostly cloudy for Thursday, April 6, but it will be warmer than the last couple of days. There is also a chance for rain or snow across the region today.

Flood conditions still exist in some areas, but those areas are shrinking.

The Portneuf River in Pocatello is measuring at 9 feet and minor flooding is still occurring along its banks. The river will gradually fall to below flood stage by late today, however, wet weather is expected later in the week and the river is expected to rise again to 10 feet by Sunday.

The Bear River in Bear Lake County is below flood stage and most of the flooding is gone. But a flood advisory is still in effect for the region due to some residual flooding along the river.

ROAD REPORT

No major road closures are being reported as of 8 a.m. Thursday.

Construction on northbound Interstate 15 between exit 72 (Chubbuck) and exit 80 (Fort Hall) has been reduced to one lane due to bridge maintenance. Expect delays and reduced speed of 65 mph through May 12.

DAILY FORECAST:

Idaho Falls, Rigby and Rexburg

The Upper Snake River Plain looks to be mostly cloudy today with a slight chance of rain. But temperatures are rising and will peak between 56 to 66 degrees. Expect northeast winds of 10 to 15 mph in the morning, which will increase to 15 to 25 mph in the afternoon. Clouds and high winds will continue at night with a 20 percent chance of rain and lows of 37 to 44 degrees.

Pocatello and Blackfoot

The Lower Snake River Plain will be mostly cloudy and breezy today with a slight chance of rain. Highs of 57 to 67 degrees are expected with east winds of 10 to 15 mph, which will increase in the afternoon to between 15 to 25 mph. At night there is a 20 percent chance of rain with continued winds and lows of 39 to 46 degrees.

St. Anthony, Ashton, Island Park, Driggs and Victor

The Upper Valley and Teton Valley will see mostly clouds today with a slight chance of rain or snow. Highs of 52 to 62 degrees are expected. At night the the clouds will remain with a slight chance of rain and lows of 36 to 43 degrees.

Arco, Challis and Mackay

There will be clouds in the Lost River area today with breezy conditions and a chance for rain or snow during the day. Highs of 51 to 61 are excepted. It’ll be cloudy during the night with a chance of rain in the evening and lows of 33 to 40 degrees.

Henry, Soda Springs, Downey and Lava Hot Springs

The Caribou Highlands will be mostly cloudy today with highs of 51 to 61 degrees. At night it will also be cloudy with a slight chance of rain and lows of 34 to 43 degrees.
