The following is a news release from the Idaho Transportation Department.
POCATELLO – A series of maintenance projects will begin today on the 30-mile stretch of Interstate 15 between Pocatello and Arimo. The Idaho Transportation Department reminds motorists to prepare for lane restrictions and multiple work zones in the area this summer.
Construction includes:
– Resurfacing seven miles of I-15 between Arimo and McCammon.
– Repairing bridges at the South Inkom Interchange and Rapid Creek Bridge in Inkom.
– Replacing guardrail on both sides of I-15 between Pocatello and Inkom.
I-15 will be reduced to one lane in both directions during the majority of construction.
“We are asking all travelers to pay careful attention to signage and changing traffic patterns,” said ITD Engineering Manager Dan Harelson. “Lane closures may change from day to day. Please slow down and plan extra time to travel through the various work zones.”
Initial construction in June will include building “crossover” lanes for motorists to use during the paving and bridge repairs.
ITD plans to invest $95 million in bridge repairs and pavement improvements on I-15 in 2017 and 2018. Construction is expected to continue for the next several years.
