Dozens of local businesses honored at Chamber of Commerce awards gala

IDAHO FALLS — Dozens of local businesses were honored this weekend at the Greater Idaho Falls Chamber of Commerce’s second annual Business of Distinction Awards Gala.

The event, held at the Willard Arts Center in Idaho Falls, saw a large, well-dressed turnout, from several local business, officials, and community members.

“The Gala is a way to support local business and (a place) where we can recognize outstanding ones,” Chamber Board Chairman Sean Coletti said. “(Here) we say thanks for the work they do in the community.”

The event began with a lavish cocktail hour that included food from Republic American Grill and Tapas Bar, live music, deserts from Love at First Bite and drinks.

During the the awards ceremony, which immediately followed, the Chamber gave sixteen different awards in three different categories: industry awards, Chamber Member of the Year awards and tribute to local business awards. Chamber CEO Michelle Holt presented the awards with KPVI’s Melissa Hackney as the master of ceremonies.

Reed’s Dairy in Idaho Falls received the Distinguished Business in the Agribusiness award.

“We are honored yo be recognized with so many other businesses. It’s fun and inspiring,” Reed’s Dairy Production Manager Milan Miller said.

The Tribute to Local Business award, sponsored by Melaleuca, was given to Love at First Bite Mercantile.

“We are very great-full to get this award and the support from the community and the chamber,” representative Spencer Richards said.

The evening concluded with desserts from Love at First Bite and gift bags from other local businesses. Gray Augustus, partner at Bill’s Bike and Run and winner in the retail business category, said the council did a great job with the event and that it was spectacular.

This is the second year the chamber has held the event.

“We had a lot of support this year,” event organizer Janet Barton said. “We are pleased with the turnout. This is a community that supports each other and you can really feel it at these events.”

The event was sponsored by several business, including East Idaho Regional Medical Center, Farr’s Jewelry , Melaleuca and KPVI News 6.
