REXBURG — Nearly 100 people participated in the TEDx event held Saturday, Dec. 5 at the Romance Theater.

This is the second year TEDx has been held in Rexburg, with Madison Memorial Hospital and Madison School District acting as sponsors.

Eric Embree, the MC for the evening, encouraged listeners to text, tweet and post on Facebook about the event as it was happening. The TED organization is focused on sharing ideas and social media. Live tweeting is a big part of the organization.

Along with live speakers, videos were shown that contained messages on success and excellence. The theme of the event was “The Quest For Excellence” and it was apparent in the ideas shared.

Several volunteers and Brigham Young University-Idaho students worked to make sure the speakers ran smoothly and that the event was recorded. According to event organizers, TED has strict rules that allow these events to be held and infractions could lead to the loss of a license.

Attendees were not allowed to record or take photos of the event, but pictures and links to speakers will be posted later to the Rexburg TEDx Facebook page and website.

Event organizers hope the success of the event and previous TED events in the area will continue to lead to other events.
