POCATELLO – A chemical leak in the Idaho State University Engineering Building that occurred about 11:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 14, has been contained and the building will be re-opened upon clearance by emergency officials.
The building will likely be re-opened by mid-afternoon.
A student and a lab assistant were working with the chemical boron trifluoride when a release occurred. The chemical was immediately contained. As a precaution, the student and lab assistant were transported via private vehicle to the Portneuf Medical Center for observation, according to Phillip Moessner, ISU associated vice president of facilities services.
ISU emergency personnel, including the Office of Technical Safety, the Pocatello Fire Department, the Pocatello Police Department and a regional hazardous materials team responded to the incident.
Students will be notified if the location for their final exams has been changed.

POCATELLO — A chemical spill has been reported on the campus of Idaho State University.
According to a tweet sent from the university, the spill is in Engineering building #7 on the Pocatello campus.
No word on if anyone was injured or transported for medical care.
Emergency crews are responding to the scene. The public is asked to avoid the area.
