Couple charged with resisting police after altercation at grocery store

POCATELLO — A Utah couple is facing multiple charges after being arrested at a grocery store on Dec. 30.

Pocatello police say they spotted the vehicle of James Evans, 41, around 11:00 p.m. in the parking lot of Albertsons at 330 E. Benton St. Evans was wanted on an failure to appear warrant.

Officers say they found Evans inside the store with Hillarie Reed, 23, also from West Valley City, Utah.

While officers were arresting Evans, they say Reed grabbed a bag Evans was holding and ran from police.

Police caught Reed and she allegedly began kicking officers.

Reed was arrested and charged with obstructing and assault upon an officer.

Detectives say both had drug paraphernalia on them and officers obtained a warrant to search the vehicle where they report more drugs were found including meth and an assortment of pills.

Evans and Reed were booked into the Bannock County Jail with no bond and will appear in court Thursday, Dec. 31.
