IDAHO FALLS — Talk radio station KEIR 101.1 FM is launching a new programming lineup Monday, Jan. 8, which will bring expanded local content and a bevy of national news and opinion radio shows.

The new lineup expands East Idaho’s News Talk’s flagship program — “Idaho’s Morning News with Dylan Carder” — to two hours, from 7 to 9 a.m. on weekdays. The program will continue to focus on local news, with longer-form interviews with members of east Idaho’s communities.

“This will allow us to put more local news on the air to better inform people,” Program Director Dylan Carder said. “We’ll have weekly visits from the Better Business Bureau, Chamber of Commerce and Idaho Falls Arts Council. So whether it’s news or local events you’ll be better informed by listening to Idaho’s Morning News.”

Additionally, Mark Richardson, longtime host of Probing America, will start a local talk show called “The Mark Richardson Show” from 3 to 4 p.m. on weekdays. The show will focus on opinion and news talk and take listener phone calls. Locals can call the station at (208) 524-TALK (8255).

“We’ve only got one live talk show in eastern Idaho,” Richardson said. “The national shows are great, but local people don’t have as much opportunity to share their opinion, to discuss and debate the issues. Another local show provides that opportunity for people to hear what their friends and neighbors are saying.”

“The Laura Ingraham Show”, “The Dave Ramsey Show” and “The Mark Levin Show” will remain as the central national shows on the station during the week. “The Lars Larson Show” and “America Now with Meghan McCain” will replace “NBC Sports Radio” in the evening. National hosts Jonathon Brandmeier and Michael Medved have been dropped.

Weekend programming will also see changes. “Advice Line with Roy Masters,” “Big Billy Kinder Outdoors” and “Leo Laporte — The Tech Guy” are a few of the additions to Saturday. “At Home with Gary Sullivan,” “Meet the Press” and “Both Sides Now” have been added to Sunday. First Presbyterian Church in Idaho Falls will continue to broadcast its service from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday.

National sports shows, including NBC Sports Radio and NFL Today, will be dropped from weekdays and weekends.

“We don’t feel the national sports programming is necessary or received well by listeners in east Idaho,” Riverbend Communications General Manager Bill Fuerst said. “We’re excited to launch this new programming that we feel will fill a void and have a deeper connection with the community.”

KEIR 101.1 FM is owned by Riverbend Communications, which also runs KLCE Classy 97, Z103, 105.5 The Hawk, and KBear 101. KEIR is broadcast in eastern Idaho at 101.1 FM in Idaho Falls, Pocatello, and Rexburg and on 92.7 FM in Blackfoot. Locals can also listen to the station on 690 and 1260 AM or stream it online here.
