Pocatello Mayor Brian C. Blad issued the following statement Friday afternoon:
Recently, we’ve seen our community be called something it is not. Pocatellans have been painted as racists, bigots, and intolerant of those who do not share our worldview. Frankly, those are things we are not. The Pocatello I know is a loving, diverse, supportive, and generous community that embraces all who live and visit our city.
As a show of solidarity with our friends at Idaho State University, the City of Pocatello will be “United in Support” and take a stand against, bigotry, racism, and intolerance wherever it shows its ugly head. These disgusting traits have no place in Pocatello and I urge all who call the city home to make a stand as well.
