IDAHO FALLS — It’s a snowy morning on Tuesday, April 4 for several communities in eastern Idaho. Both Rigby, Blackfoot and Pocatello got hit by several inches of snow last night, while other communities like Rexburg and Idaho Falls got next to nothing.

The snow isn’t going to last long though, as the forecast is sunny today throughout the region and temperatures are going up slightly.

Flood conditions have vastly improved in eastern Idaho.

The Portneuf River in Pocatello is measuring at 9.0 feet and minor flooding is still occurring along its banks. The river will gradually fall to below flood stage by late today, however, wet weather is expected later in the week and the river is expected to rise again to 9.5 feet.

The Bear River in Bear Lake County is below flood stage and most of the flooding is gone. A flood advisory is still in effect for the region due to some residual flooding along the river, which is affecting Dingle and Pegram.

A hard freeze advisory also is in effect for northern Utah in the Cache Valley. Temperatures will drop to the low-to-mid 20s Tuesday and Wednesday morning. Cold temperatures will impact plants sensitive to temperatures 28 degrees or lower, primarily early budding fruit trees, according to the National Weather Service.

ROAD REPORT

No major road closures are being reported as of 8 a.m. Tuesday.

The Idaho Department of Transportation is reporting icy patches and difficult conditions in the Monida Pass on Interstate 15 from Dubois to Lima, Montana.

Similar conditions exist on Idaho Highway 31 between Swan Valley and the Wyoming State Line and Idaho Highway 33 between Driggs and the Wyoming State Line.

Construction on northbound Interstate 15 between exit 72 (Chubbuck) and exit 80 (Fort Hall) has been reduced to one lane due to bridge maintenance. Expect delays and reduced speed of 65 mph through May 12.
