MENAN – Three people were rushed to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center after they were involved in a serious crash Thursday evening on Highway 20.

The accident happened around 7:00 p.m. near the intersection of 6800 South just north of the Lorenzo Bridge.

Madison County Sheriff Roy Klingler says three people were traveling north in a vehicle when they collided with a trailer attached to the back of a semi-truck. The large trailer was full of straw.

Klinger says the truck was traveling east across Highway 20 – attempting to cross the northbound lanes and enter southbound traffic.

Multiple police and emergency crews responded. One witness described the scene as “horrendous.”

Klinger says the driver and a front passenger had to be extricated from the vehicle. They, along with a passenger in the back seat, were taken to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center by ambulance. The extent of their injuries is unknown but, according to Madison County Sheriff’s Captain Cameron Stanford, they were all wearing seatbelts.

Traffic in both directions was shut down in the area for about an hour but Klinger says crews have left the scene and conditions should be back to normal.
