AMMON — A 35-year-old man is facing a slew of charges after investigators said he slashed the tires of a car and lit it on fire.
Jason Plaizier was arrested early Wednesday, Nov. 11 after the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office said he showed up at his ex-wife’s home on Deloy Street around 12:30 a.m.
Detectives say she heard a car pull up and when she looked out the window, Plaizier was allegedly slashing the tires of her boyfriend’s vehicle.
The boyfriend immediately went outside and noticed the front end of his car was on fire, authorities told EastIdahoNews.com.
“At this point Plaizier was inside his car,” Bonneville County Sheriff’s Sergeant Bryan Lovell said. “When the boyfriend confronted him, Plaizier pulled out a knife and lunged at the man.”
The boyfriend called 911 and Plaizier left the home.
A short time later, investigators say an Idaho Falls Police Officer discovered Plaizier’s empty car on Plommon Street. He was discovered a few minutes later hiding at a nearby church.
“He smelled like gas and there was a gas can inside his car,” Lovell said.
Plaizier is charged with felony aggravated assault, felony stalking, felony third degree arson, vandalism and trespassing.
Detectives say he has a history of trespassing and stalking his ex.
Plaizier is currently in the Bonneville County Jail on a $50,000 bond.
