IDAHO FALLS – A local horse took home three top honors at a world championship show in Texas last week.

Lopealicious, a 10-year-old Bay Tobiano Stallion, won three world championship titles at the American Paint Horse Show in Fort Worth.

Idaho Falls horse owner Leslie Watkins said the black and white stallion competed in three Western Pleasure events. Horses are asked to walk, trot and lope in each direction. They are judged on smooth transitions, movement and disposition.

In each class, Lopealicious took the world championship.

“This is so exciting,” Watkins said. “We’re hidden in Idaho and not very many people from here attend the World Show. To go in and win is awesome – especially considering that Lopealicious is 10 years old.”

Watkins and her husband, Alan, have owned Lopealicious for the past five years. They operate Watkins Performance Horses in Bonneville County. They plan to enter Lopealicious in upcoming major shows around the country.
